What people say about us when we are twisting their arms.
“For me this place opened an internal door for growth and I’m not done with growing anytime soon!”
- Joppe van der Linde
“I feel very grateful to be part of the Crazy Monkey community. I joined this place to dive into the movement practice, and additionally I found myself in a group of amazing people and learning from truly excellent teachers. When there’s a class on my schedule I feel like a kid going to a candy store, again and again. Only less than a year in, I know I’ve already benefited so much and that my movement practice at Crazy Monkey will prove valuable for the rest of my life.”
- Carmen Poort
“It’s so nice to explore the possibilities of your body in new ways.”
- Bart van Nispen
The breathwork session is very well facilitated by Bart and Thomas. The studio is beautifully transformed into a pleasant space where I felt the room to experience everything during the breath session and go deep within myself. Very cool to connect with others from the community in this way.

“Here is the program I follow and what is listed above is the technical part, but what I actually enjoy is all the other stuff that is happening within the movement practice. Here are some insights and thoughts that I have compiled during the last 5-6 weeks.
I started this program what feels like forever ago; but I wasn’t able to give it the attention that I wanted to give it to. Like when starting anything new, you have to adjust other parts of your life to fit it in. I had a lot of negative feelings because I wasn’t able to get into it fast enough and it was harder than I thought it was going to be: physically, mentally and time wise. Honestly, the technical pieces of the program gave me resistance because I think it represented just another “program.” That created tension from within but I heard something clever. “When something is difficult, come at it with curiosity” -Thomas I needed to hear this at exactly the right moment.
As I got into it, I was noticing much more awareness in my body. I was able to find awareness in isolated parts of my body: as if I rediscovered them again. As a whole body system I am more sensitive to where I am holding tension, how my posture is, and my movement patterns. These realisations surface even during inconspicuous moments, for example, I have become aware of which leg I pick up first when putting my pants on. J I was able to connect to the work Michael has taught on letting go of the tension in other areas of the body while doing daily tasks like cooking, riding my bike or doing household chores. That’s really special because I’ve never made connections in the traditional fitness world to moves into my daily life. Like when did I ever think about that 90 degree lunge when playing sports?
With the strength, handstand and mobility work I am definitely feeling stronger but it’s a slow progression. My biggest take away here, is that I’ve realized when things are really hard or hurt, how much my head screams and I let that dictate my actions too much. I would love to work on how to make that voice softer or making a choice versus a reaction.
Floor work is a whole other animal for me. It’s like brain training. I see the movements and they look easy but then when I go to do it, I don’t know what just happened. It takes me a lot of work (doing) and watching to figure it out. I have no dance background. I did dance for a year when I was a kid, and I remember struggling then on how to organize myself. At first I felt so awkward trying to find a transition or trying to get the move right. A few times I’ve been able to find a couple of transitions. For work that looks light, it’s actually really frustrating. It is definitely a work in progress and I love the idea that it is never finished.
In general, I am viewing movement differently. That’s the most exciting piece. What can I do outside of crazy monkey to move more without having the beautiful space and all the tools? This has also been a joy because it means moving more with my kids and family and friends. I am looking at things in my life like stairs, brushing my teeth, or my children and making into an opportunity to move differently. Everything is an opportunity. I can fold, change the speed, or use the other hand for example. It’s interactive so it’s easy to find a way to move with others as well making it playful.
I am spending a lot of time, money, and effort on this and I’m really enjoying it. I am grateful for my husband who is giving me the space to explore and allow me the space to let things unfold in real time without an end goal. I am also grateful for Michael and Thomas who are helping to facilitate my movement journey. Thanks guys.”

Powerful breathwork session. It wasn’t all smooth sailing - my senses went a little haywire midway. But by the end, it was pure bliss. Like hitting reset on my body and mind, leaving me invigorated and clear.
